Jeff has been a part of the Gracie Barra New Mexico team since 2007, training and working as an instructor for all class levels. Jeff was drawn to Brazilian jiu-jitsu because of its effectiveness and its holistic approach that can be applied to all areas of life. His initial training began over 10 years ago with Professor Alberto Crane at the Santa Fe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. As a purple belt, Jeff went on to train with Professor Roberto “Tussa” Alencar, Profressor Rafael “Barata” De Freitas, and Professor Don Ortega at Gracie Barra New Mexico. During travel, Jeff seeks out training opportunities in order to expand his knowledge and extend his network. Along with being a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner, Jeff has been active in MMA, training fighters in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and working as a conditioning coach. Jeff has experience competing in tournaments, including IBJJF sponsored events, but his true passion is teaching and spreading Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jeff’s outgoing personality and keen sense of humor make the classes enjoyable, while his knowledge and skill make the class worthwhile.

David has been a part of the Gracie Barra New Mexico team since 2007. David was drawn to Brazilian jiu-jitsu because of the effectiveness and popularity of the sport. His initial training began with a simple introductory class by Professor Don Ortega at the then Albuquerque Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Through training, David has invested 5 years of training with Professor Roberto “Tussa” Alencar, Profressor Rafael “Barata” De Freitas, and Professor Don Ortega at Gracie Barra New Mexico. From day one David made a commitment to Professor Don Ortega, “I am here until I get a black belt”. David is still pursuing that dream. On a side note, David has served in the military for over 15 years, having been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, he understands the importance of self defense. David is now a reservist with the Air Force.
